Looking to create that upscale style without breaking the bank?
One morning, while sipping coffee in front of our shiplap Fireplace, the greatest notion came to me! The island bar side will be shiplap to unite the open living room. Of course my partner gave me that look --LOL-- as I discussed the DIY project! Yet really all the island needed was a little face lift and I could be the one to help it!! Here are the complete details on how to execute the transformation.
Materials & Tools Needed: Measuring tape/ pencil
Adhesive glue/ glue gun Finish nails / hammer Corner trim / table saw or ( have Home Depot associative cut lengths needed) Shiplap wood pieces
Our island has a 3’ cabinet run underneath with finished end panels. To continue a finished look the corner trim is necessary. One 8' foot long corner trim piece was purchased and cut into 2 pieces for the under counter height of 34.5” inches. The pieces are then nailed on the back ends of the island next to the edge of the finished side end panels for a flush appearance.
Measurements are taken of the inside length from corner trim to corner trim. The shiplap boards can then be cut that dimension. I was able to get 2 pieces out one shiplap board. So I only needed to purchase 4 pieces total! The shiplap boards are cut the length needed, each board can be glued and nailed at the inside corner trim.
Literally this DIY project couldn’t get any easier and the shiplap adds such style! Oh and did I mention, this was all achieved for under $30!!
